We had fun.

The family & I had a good time at the Renaissance Festival today. We left out pretty early and ended up getting there an hour after the gates opened. Sheesh! I had to hit the bank for some cahola, then we stopped for gas, and then Tim decided that we should hit the carwash because the van was filthy (like anyone cares about how dirty the van is at the Renaissance Festival).

Before we left the house I knew that I was forgetting something, but I couldn't figure out what that something was. Well, about halfway to the festival it hit me.... I had left my camera in the top drawer of the computer desk. S.O.B.! Tim asked me if I wanted him to turn around and come back to get it. I said, "Hell no!" The festival is down below Atlanta and over 1 1/2hrs south of our home. We were already 45mins into the drive and there was no way that I wanted to turn around and go back for the camera. Besides, if there had really been anything important, Tim's cell is a camera phone. LOL

The girls had a good time, Tim & I had a good time, we got rained on, and Tim & I came home with sunburns. LOL. I put sunscreen on the girls, my face, my chest (I had a low-cut top on), and on my shoulders. Yet I came home with a sunburn on my BACK! LOL. Isn't that the way it goes? No worries though, the red will turn to brown tomorrow... I tan pretty easily.

Now our next out-of-town trip will happen in July. We are counting down the days until our yearly, week-long family vacation to Tybee Island. We will be in our favorite condo from July 5th to July 12th. I'm so ready to be soaking up the sun on the sandy beach. Maybe this year I won't be attacked by a jellyfish again. That sucked!

I hope that you're having a great weekend. Until next time...

The end of the week is already here.

Welcome to Friday! I love Fridays. There's just something about the end of the week, but not quite the weekend yet. I run my errands and usually buy myself something small... nail polish, a treat, lunch, a new top... just something small.

This morning I even got to grocery shop ALONE. I haven't done that in... well, I guess since my oldest was born 11 yrs ago. LOL! That's bad. It was fun though. I got in and out in under 30mins. I was amazed! My youngest has decided that she doesn't like he grocery store any longer and she'll cry and scream the whole time while begging to "Leave NOW, Mommy!" So this morning she went to visit my grandmother instead. My grandmother spoils her, so who wouldn't prefer that over the grocery store? LOL.

It's another lovely day here in north Georgia. The sun is out, the birds are singing, there's a light breeze and the temps are comfortable. I had to run by the post office to ship off an autographed book ($25 to Denmark, geez!), and it turned out that the mail lady behind the counter was very intrigued by my books and asked me to bring her an autographed copy the next time I come in. There just so happen to be another lady in there at the time who was excited to meet a local author. The enthusiasm is funny because some people are very shocked to find out that there is a writer in their area. I was very mad at myself for only bringing my wallet in and not having any business cards with me. I remedied that as soon as I came home though. LOL. I keep them in my purse at all times, but today I just left my purse behind. Oh well.

Tim had to work today. His company is doing inventory and everyone knows how that sucks. He was not looking forward to it. Luckily, we'll have a good time tomorrow. We will be gong down to Atlanta for th Georgia Renaissance Festival! I love it! The first time I went, I was in 9th grade and it was a class trip with my Honors English class. I had a blast and even came home with a painted tattoo. My parents weren't amused. *giggle*

So fast forward to over a decade later when I'm trying to convince my husband, yet again, that he might actually enjoy the festival. He finally gives in (I find out later that he only gave in because his guy friend from work told him it was fun *roll eyes*) and we go. He had as much fun as I did. LOL! That was three years ago. Men!

Speaking of Tim, he's always trying to convince me that I should buy one of those cleavage-showing, corset-style, wench dresses from the festival. I think they are very pretty, but I can't see spending that kind of money on something that he just wants to see in the bedroom. LOL. Well, I could wear it for Halloween too. But geez, that's just not enough usage for that kind of money. Maybe I'll just have my picture made in one for him to enjoy. ;-)

Wow, I think this has been one of my longest entries in a very long time. I hope I didn't bore anyone to death. :-D Before I go, I want to remind everyone that my Spring Give-Away will end on the 30th. So if you haven't sent in your entry, do it so very soon!

Have a great Friday and a woderful weekend. :-)

Thursday Thirteen for this week!

So what do you think of the new look of my blog? I'm still tweaking a few things (if I can figure them out), but this is pretty much it. :-) Next week, stop by my website for it's new look. Then I'll be working on my MySpace page. THAT will be a handful.

Today's Thursday Thirteen topic is........

Thirteen Movies in My Netflix Queue

1. Revolver
2. All seasons of the tv show Smallville
3. Juno
4. August Rush
5. The Reaping
6. Perfect Creature
7. Saw IV
8. Apocalypto
9. Shaun of the Dead
10. Insatiable
11. Vacancy
12. Dracula II: Ascension
13. One Missed Call

This is just a VERY short sampling of the 251 DVDs that are currently in my Netflix queue. I have a huge variety of horror, thrillers, comedy, romance, family, television, and children's movies in there. As well as some really old movies and a list of upcoming releases. I go in and rearrange every so often so that I'll get a movie on a Saturday, or a tv show on a Tuesday, or a kids movie when they are annoying me. LOL. It's been nearly 2 months since I signed up with Netflix and I can definitely say that I LOVE IT! :-) If you are a member and would like to befriend me on there, just click here.

Ok, I'm off to do some work. Thanks for reading my blog today!

Pretty productive.

Today was a nice day. The sun was shining, the skies were blue, the birds were singing, and the temps were lovely all day. It turned out to be a very productive as well.

I always schedule myself with 2-3 hours of pure writing time during Monday - Thursday of every week. Some days are better than others, but today was a good day. I managed to write a chapter in one of my books and a 1200 word article. Then I researched some magazines that I want to write articles for and read a few writers newsletters that I get on a regular basis. All of that on top of normal household chores and a whining 3 yr old (she's been in a mood today).

If it had been nighttime and everyone was in the bed, I would have managed three chapters and the article. But, you have to take what you can get, when you can get it.

I'm thinking about knocking out another chapter around 10pm, when everyone (including the hubby) will be asleep. I work better at night, with no distractions, the tv off, and with my mp3 player plugged into my brain. My only problem with working at night is when I'm too tired to think straight and produce anything of quality. We'll see...

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Monday!

Well, it looks like my sanity has returned. The older girls went back to school today and it has been peacefully quiet with just the toddler and I at home. Of course I'm completed screwed in about five weeks when school lets out for summer. But luckily it won't be long until our yearly week on the beaches of Tybee Island.

I have a busy week planned this week. Lots of personal and professional work to do. I plan on completing three chapters in the two books I'm working on and a magazine article. As well as numerous household chores, mothering responsibilities, and personal errands.

I just finished my weekly entry for the Less Than Traditional Moms blog (which was inspired by my busy schedule this week). So stop by and check it out.

I will also be working on my monthly newsletter this week. As many of you may know, I send it on the first Wednesday of every month. But this month I want to get it out a little earlier in order to remind readers about my giveaway that's ending on April 30th. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out just because they forgot about the contest. So if you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you can do so with the white and blue sign-up box on the right. ----->

Well, I guess I better get to work now. Have a happy Monday and a productive week! :-)

Thursday Thirteen - It ain't happenin'!

***This is an announcement from the Christie is a Mommy Emergency System! This week's Thursday Thirteen has been interrupted by the appearance of three little monsters... two of which are home from school on Spring Break. Your regularly scheduled Thursday Thirteen will return next week when Christie can again think straight long enough to concoct an appropriate list of Thursday Thirteens.***

I tell you what, each year the girls get more rowdy. They have been wild-eyed demons this week. Thank goodness that the week is almost over and the big girls will be back to school on Monday. Unfortunately, there are only like 5 more weeks before school is out for summer. Looks like I'll have to throw them outside for the summer months in order to keep any shred of my sanity. LOL!

I haven't been able to write a single word in the two books that I'm working on. I can't think straight when they are all screaming, fighting, tattle-telling, begging for something, or arguing over the tv remote. Then, of course, you must throw in the fact that for some reason the older two must really enjoy hearing the yougest squeal at the top of her lungs. Therefore, they are always doing something to her in order to get that result numerous times throughtout the day.

Too bad it's only 10am... I could use a nice shot of liqour to make it through the rest of the day. Maybe it's time for me to utilize the lock on my bedroom door so that I can hide for a while. LOL!

I hope the rest of you are having a more enjoyable week. I'll be busy tomorrow getting the brakes changed on my van, buying this year's car tags, grocery shopping, and running errands; all with three bratty girls in tow. LOL! Please wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed that I don't end up sitting in a corner, hugging my knees, while rocking and chanting, "No more. Please, no more!" :-)

It's Thursday, again.

I didn't forget. YAY! It's time for the weekly Thursday Thirteen. This week's topic is.........

13 Things I Should Be Doing, But Not

1. Writing - Yes, I bypassed my daily writing time to watch a movie.
2. Making out a grocery list for tomorrow.
3. Figuring out WTH I should get DH for his birthday next weekend.
4. Folding laundry - who really wants to do that?
5. Cleaning the fireplace - same as above... who really?
6. Balancing the checkbook before DH's paycheck goes in tomorrow.
7. Signing the two mini-posters that I'll be giving away at the end of the month! (Go enter the giveaway if you haven't already).
8. Dusting
9. Vacuuming
10. Planting vegetables outside - there's still a chance of frost for the weekend. YUCK!
11. Putting photos in a photo album.
12. Putting some toddler clothes on eBay - I hate doing it because it takes forever!
13. I should be making plans to go to the Reneissance Festival this weekend, but not sure I want to this weekend.

There you have it. I'm being a slacker today. I watched The Mist this morning so that I could rush it back to Netflix in time for the kids to get Garfield for Saturday. Then I went to the grocery store for a quick milk & soda run. Then back home for lunch and this entry. I have one more hour before I need to head to school to sit in the pick-up line for my older two. The youngest is being a bit of a pain right now, but it is funny to watch her walking around the house in my favorite wedge sandals. LOL!

If any of you readers out there would like to suggest a Thursday Thirteen topic for me to enlighten you with, feel free to email me anytime at christie@christiesilvers.com . I'm always open to suggestions. :-)

Happy Anniversary!

Good morning everyone. Before I begin, yes my headache is gone. YAY! I'm feeling much better this morning... tired, but better. I ended up going to bed at a shocking 9pm last night. I'm NEVER in bed before 11. LOL!

Well today is April 9th and that means it's my 14th wedding anniversary. Tim and I got hitched 14yrs ago in my parents' front yard on a lovely spring break Saturday. We were both only 17 yrs old (him only days from his 18th birthday) and we didn't have the foggiest idea what was in store for us. LOL!

We've had a good time together. Of course there have been the ups and downs, like with any marriage, but there have been more ups than anything. So if Tim reads this entry (he doesn't usually & refuses to even have his own MySpace page, lol) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Headaches

Today is day three of a headache. I've been plagued with headaches and migraines for as long as I can remember. They have gotten further apart in frequency over the years, but it's still a battle when one shows up.

Having a headache for one day is no big deal. It's a minor annoyance. Day two is difficult, but I can still function fully. By day three I am downrght sick. I feel awful, don't want to do anything, and can hardly eat because of a sick stomach from the pain. I can't think straight (so pardon this post if it sounds like rubbish) and I don't even attempt to work on my books.

I very seldom have a headache that lasts past three days, so hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

Now when I get migraines it's a completely different story. Migraines require PM meds and sleep from the get-go. Tim will massage my neck and head for me, but he works during the day so I don't get that until late evening.

A headache can turn into a migraine, but usually doesn't. If that happens, everyone beware.

Now that you know far too much about my head pains, I will leave you with the knowledge that I need a nice stiff drink and about 12 hours of sleep. Too bad that won't happen anytime soon. Have a good day!

Thursday Thirteen

AH! I'm on time this week. I didn't forget and I even thought of it at 7am this morning. YAY me! LOL.

After a discussion with a friend about me being described as eccentric, I decided that this week's topic would be.....

13 Words That Describe Me

1. Happy
2. Creative
3. Caring
4. Passionate
5. Bossy
6. Friendly
7. Supportive
8. Tired (aren't we all)
9. Driven
10. A Bitch (yes, I've been called this, but I don't mind because it's true when I need to be)
11. Flirty
12. Frisky
13. And lastly, ECCENTRIC (which really just encompasses all of the above)

I think it's funny when I'm described as eccentric. I've never really thought of myself being connected to that word. But, I suppose when you look at me as a whole--the things that I like, the things that I don't like, and my attitude about particular topics, the word eccentric could be included in there. I am who I am. I like what I like. I want things the way I want them. And I will do whatever it takes to get things just how I like them to be. That's just ME!

Today's the day!

Happy April 1st to everyone. I hope that you aren't tricked by any April's Fools Day jokes. It's never been something that we do, but I know many who greatly enjoy it.

Well, today is the big day... the release of A Birth at Dawn! YAY! So if you've been waiting for this much anticipated release, you can purchase your copy either on my website (autographed) or from the publisher's site here. It will still be a few weeks before A Birth at Dawn will be processed into the Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. bookstore systems. But if you're waiting on that, stay tuned here and I'll be announcing it once the process is complete.

If you haven't already read A Midnight Infatuation, it is highly recommended that you do so before beginning A Birth at Dawn. Each book stands on its own, but I always like to know the back story on characters when I read a series.

Ok, I guess that's it for now. I'm off to do my morning workout, walk the dog, start the laundry, clean up a little and then get to work on my writing for today. The next book in the Alex & Fiona series is coming along nicely. I'm hoping to complete the first draft by the time I go on vacation in July. *Fingers crossed*

Have a great Tuesday!!
