Does life imitate art, or vice versa?

I'm sure you've heard the saying that life imitates art. I've always wondered about that. What about art imitating life?

For me, writing usually has a sense of truth and/or reality to it... even if it's fiction and something completely off the wall. There will always be a piece of the writer in their work. Most of a work of fiction will simply be the author's imagination, but where do these thoughts come from? What about that explicit sex scene? Or that love of a pet? Certain things will be from the author's own experience and therefore, art is imitating life. Right?

For those of you who have read my books, you may be interested to know that there are parts of my stories that are true to me. There are thoughts, feelings, and/or actual events that have really happened in my life. For obvious reasons, I won't reveal what's true and what's simply fiction, but my life isn't always as boring as it seems to be. LOL!

Anyway, just thought I'd ramble today. I just found this topic interesting. :-)

I hope everyone has a great week. I only have 9 more days until the girls go back to school. YAY!!

Addicted to Plurk

So I held out as long as I could, but I gave in and finally opened a Plurk account. LOL! I'm hooked now. There's nothing I can do about it. I even introduced a friend to it and I think she's slowing becoming addicted as well.

Welcome to Plurk! Your New Addiction!

If anyone wants to be friends, just hit my link on the right and I'll confirm you the next time I'm on there (read: the next time today). :-)

Website recreations and painting walls.

If you've been one of my readers for any amount of time you'll know that I have this love affair with changing the look of my sites. Hell, this blog has changed about half a dozen times since I started it; with the newest change being this week.

There's just somthing about having a fresh new look on the sites that you visit most often--especially if they're your own sites. I'm the same way in real life too. I paint my walls a different color at least once a year. I love new colors, new looks, new layouts. My husband gets tired of hearing about new color schemes and which room needs paint this time. LOL!

Sooooo, I feed my color imagination online. That's why it seems that my websites are always changing (because they actually are) all the time. LOL! I love it! I also like things to match. That's why my blog, my website, and my MySpace pages will always look as close to the same as I can get them.

Now you know another little tid-bit about me....

I like change! I like colors! I like changing colors! LOL

Happy Tuesday. :-)

Movies, Kids, and Chuck E Cheese!

Catchy title don't ya think? LOL!

Last night was nice. Wanted was a fantastic movie! Lots of action, gun fights, and humorous dialogue. We loved it. I also noticed that the soundtrack was just wonderful. I'll be hunting that one down ASAP.

This morning we headed up to Chattanooga in order to hit the Chuck E Cheese for lunch. The girls had a blast. Before we knew it, we'd been there for two hours! *shock* We had lots of pizza, drinks, tokens, and prize tickets. All three girls came home with some sort of cheap "toy" that will probably end up in the trash before next weekend. LOL! But, they loved it.

Right now we are dealing with a 3yr old who refuses to go to bed. Everytime we put her to bed she comes right back in here. Looks like it might be time to put the baby gate up at the door. At least she'll be in her room. LOL.

Happy Birthday, my dear!

Today is my middle daughter's 8th birthday. She thinks she's big stuff now that she's 8. lol We are having a cook-out birthday party this evening, but she alreadyreceived her gifts from me this morning (her choice).

The birthday cake just came out of the oven, the burgers are marinating, and the dishwasher is running so we'll have a clean kitchen at party time. Then after the party, my mom is taking the girls for the night, and Tim & I are going out to see a movie. He wants to see Wanted, so I'm sure that will be he one we'll go to. It looks good!

Then tomorrow we're taking the girls for lunch at Chuck E Cheese. The birthday girl wanted to have her party there, but I didn't feel like doing that this year, so we're just taking them for lunch and to play tomorrow. That's good enough for them because they are all excited to go. LOL.

So anyway, nothing too exciting this weekend, but it's super busy. I hope everyone is having a nice weekend! Go out and enjoy the summer! :-)

It's a full moon!

I love full moons. There's just something special about that large, glowing orb in the sky when you can see the whole thing. You can't help but take a moment to stare at it.

In my world, the full moon means werewolves, vampires, and other creatures of the night are roaming with a giant flashlight overhead. They have a light to lead their way on the path of destruction that lies before them. Or they have a light to guide them while enjoying a romantic romp in the forest. You just never know with those creatures of the night. ;-)

This is just my moonlit ramblings...

Now go outside to enjoy the moon yourself!

Ok, I guess that's it for today. The older girls have gone to spend the night with my sister, the youngest is watching cartoons, and the hubby will be home soon. I might be able to convince him to take me out for dinner since there will only be three of us. LOL We'll see though!

Tomorrow and Saturday I'll be out of the house having a big yard sale. I've decided to finally get rid of all our baby items... swing, stroller, highchair, playpen, etc. and I expect it all to sell quickly! Here's hoping for nothing coming back home with me at the end of the weekend. LOL!

Have a great evening everyone!

The curiosity of inspiration.

Inspiration is a funny thing. It can strike at anytime and at any place. But what amuses me is exactly what can cause that bout of inspiration.

Earlier today I was complaining to a friend about me being stumped with the current book I'm writing. I've been kind of stuck on what direction a particular section of the book needed to go in. I kind of knew what needed to happen, but not quite sure how I wanted to get there.

So I was complaining to this friend of mine and I just rambled on and on until ideas started flowing out one after another. Suddenly, the story just laid itself right out in front of me! Inspiration had struck! It was amusing to me afterwards because there I was complaining about having trouble with it and then WHAM it hit me over the head with a 2x4.

Alex & Fiona are definitely in for a journey with this newest book. What will happen to them? Who will be lost during this adventure? What new people will they meet along the way? I guess we both will just have to wait to find out when the book is finish. LOL!

I hope that everyone is having a nice week. Only 2 weeks and 1 day until school starts. I can definitely use the quiet to get my work done, but I'll miss sleeping late every day of the week. Ah well, you take the good (two kids out of my hair for almost 8 hours) with the bad (having to wake up at 6am five days a week).

3 Weeks & 2 Days

That's all that remains in summer break for my older girls. YAY! School starts back on August 6th and I can't wait! The girls are driving me batty so I keep chanting "3 weeks, 2 days... 3 weeks, 2 days... 3 weeks, 2 days".

Other than that, I'm busy this week. We are planning a huge yard sale for Friday and Saturday. This is the yard sale where I finally, after all these years, sell all of our baby stuff... highchair, baby swing, bouncy seat, car seats, receiving blankets, and even those tiny little newborn onesies. I have a ton of stuff to get rid of.

Also, Saturday is my middle daughter's birthday, so we'll be having her party around dinnertime. Last year she had a SuperGirl theme, but this year she doesn't want any sort of theme. All she's worried about are her gifts. LOL!

Well, I'm out. I have dinner to cook and writing to do for the rest of the day. Have a great week everyone!

We made it home!

Yes, I'm back home now. We arrived here a little after 1pm today after leaving Savannah at 7am this morning. It seemed to take forever to get home. Then, we hit awful traffic in Atlanta and got all turned around until we ended up on the wrong road. UGH! I abolutely HATE driving in Atlanta.

Anyway, I'm home now so feel free to resume all incoming emails and/or comments. :-)

Right now I'm uploading all of our 220 vacation pics and will happily share some of the highlights with you tomorrow or Monday. :-)

Have a great weekend!

Thursday Thirteen #27

Yes, yes, I'm still on vacation, but I couldn't miss giving you my Thursday Thirteen for this week! We are having a blast here on Tybee Island. The ocean is always beautiful, the sun is shining brightly, and it's downright hot & humid. LOL!

So since I'm on vacation, this week's TT theme will be the BEACH! :-)

Thirteen Things I've Seen or Done at the Beach!

1. Lots of sand. LOL!
2. Dolphins frolicking in the waves
3. People wearing swimsuits that should've had a LOT more material!
4. Loads of seashells that the girls wanted to keep (we bring home tons ea. yr.)
5. Sand dollars
6. Blue crabs
7. Alligators in captivity
8. We ate tons of shrimp & crablegs at our favorite resturant--The Crab Shack
9. Tim & I drank, relaxed, & people-watched from our condo balcony
10. Spent a day roaming around Savannah
11. Gotten a nice tan from spending days on the beach
12. Did NOT get attacked by a jellyfish this year. YAY!
13. Lastly, I'll be packing tomorrow to head back home Saturday. We don't
want to leave, but I'll be glad to sleep in my own bed. See you next year
Tybee Island, Georgia!! We love you!

Beach pictures to share.

I thought I'd stop in and share two cute pics from the beach this morning. My girls were having so much fun. :-)

We made it to the beach!

Hi all! Yes, we made it. It was a long 6 hours of driving, but we finally made it to our condo and could rest for a little while. We went to dinner at our favorite seafood restuarant and then we went for a barefoot walk on the beach. The girls loved it and ended up soaking wet by the time we were finished. LOL!

The internet access is iffy here this year, so who knows how often I'll be able to get online from the condo. Luckily, there are free wi-fi spots all over the island and into Savannah that I can hit if need be. I really just need to check my email at least once per day.

Anyway, here's a little picture from when we first got here. Overlook how awful and tired I look as it has been a looooong day. LOL! The wind was blowing and my hair was wild and we were all tired.

Ok, I'm off to enjoy the rest of the evening with a yummy Fuzzy Navel and a hubby who is just as tired as I am. LOL! Talk to you all later! :-)

Happy 4th of July!!

Happy 4th of July to all of the USA readers. I hope that everyone is enjoying a nice day off with family and friends. Any big plans today? Fireworks? Cook-outs? Parties?

We got up early and took the girls out for breakfast. It feels like a Saturday. LOL! Then, we stopped by Walmart to pick up some laundry detergent because I forgot to do it yesterday. Then, we filled up the van's gas tank in preparation for our 6 hour drive tomorrow. YAY!

After all of that, we came home and had a swim. Now we're all inside just lazing around.

The hubby will be grilling out burgers & hotdogs in a couple of hours and we'll enjoy some nice alcoholic beverages right along with the food. LOL!

I have a few more things to do before we leave in the morning. I have one more load of laundry, after everyone takes their showers, and one more load of dishes, after dinner. Then, we'll be set. :-)

Have a good day! I hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend and spend some time with the loved ones in your life. :-)

Thursday Thirteen #26

Howdy ya'll! Yes, that's the Georgia girl in me coming out for a peek. LOL! Sorry, let me shove her back into the corner where she belongs. Whew! There!

Well, I only have tomorrow left and then we will head out to Tybee Island on Saturday morning. The girls are beside themselves with excitement. All the packing is done (except for the things we still need) and I'll buy our groceries for the week tomorrow. Then, everything will be shoved into the back of my minivan and off we'll go at 8am Saturday morning.

Of course, just because I'll be on vacation doesn't mean I'll be without internet. Oh hell no! I'll be hitting the wi-fi as soon as we get there. Even if I wasn't an internet junkie I'd be bombarded with so many emails if I didn't check them for a whole week. I receive hundreds of emails a DAY, so imagine seven days! It would be a disaster. Luckily, the condo has wi-fi and there are many other places all around Tybee & Savannah that have free wi-fi. So I'll be good to go.

Well, I guess I better stop the rambling and get to today's Thursday Thirteen. :-) Enjoy!

1. Ghost Whisperer
2. Burn Notice
3. Dr. Who (the new ones)
4. Battlestar Galactica (the new ones)

Rambling for tonight.

Well, it's Tuesday night here. It'll be Wednesday in about 45 minutes. Only a few more days until I leave. It can't get here soon enough!

I've been rushing around the past two days getting things in order, getting writing jobs sent out, scheduling some things, packing, and making sure the dog will be taken care of while we're gone. Everything appears to be in order. But is it really? I'm sure something will pop up between now and Saturday morning that I'll have to frantically correct just in the nick of time. It always happens.

I'm so stressed out at this moment just preparing for vacation. Hell, I'll be glad when we get down to the island so I can relax! Even the hubby needs to elax and all he's doing is his normal, everyday job. No packing mess for him. He'll feel better once we can smell the fresh ocean breeze.

I enjoy the evenings on the beach the most. It's not too hot, the sun isn't glaring at you, the crowds have left, and we go for a long walk on the beach in our bare feet. The girls frolick in and out of the waves while their giggles of delight ring in our ears. They search for seashells (like we need more) and we discover some little sea creature that has been abandoned in a small pool of water in the sand. Last year we had to watch our toes for small blue crabs running all over the beach. The girls would scream and squeal as the crabs would dart for the coming waves.

Just the thoughts make me feel better... or maybe that's the Tylenol PM I took 30 minutes ago. LOL!

So, on a side note, if you drink a Coke and down two Tylenol PMs,will they counteract each other? Well, I can tell you NO. The Tylenol PM will win out in about 30 mins. Your typing fingers slow down as your mind becomes a little hazy. You might spill the Coke down your chin. But, the Tylenol PM seems to win out everytime. At least my headache is easing up. LOL!

Now I'm off to let the Tylenol kick in even better before I pass out in bed next to the already snoring husband.

Night!
