Thursday Thirteen #27

Yes, yes, I'm still on vacation, but I couldn't miss giving you my Thursday Thirteen for this week! We are having a blast here on Tybee Island. The ocean is always beautiful, the sun is shining brightly, and it's downright hot & humid. LOL!

So since I'm on vacation, this week's TT theme will be the BEACH! :-)

Thirteen Things I've Seen or Done at the Beach!

1. Lots of sand. LOL!
2. Dolphins frolicking in the waves
3. People wearing swimsuits that should've had a LOT more material!
4. Loads of seashells that the girls wanted to keep (we bring home tons ea. yr.)
5. Sand dollars
6. Blue crabs
7. Alligators in captivity
8. We ate tons of shrimp & crablegs at our favorite resturant--The Crab Shack
9. Tim & I drank, relaxed, & people-watched from our condo balcony
10. Spent a day roaming around Savannah
11. Gotten a nice tan from spending days on the beach
12. Did NOT get attacked by a jellyfish this year. YAY!
13. Lastly, I'll be packing tomorrow to head back home Saturday. We don't
want to leave, but I'll be glad to sleep in my own bed. See you next year
Tybee Island, Georgia!! We love you!

Thursday Thirteen #26

Howdy ya'll! Yes, that's the Georgia girl in me coming out for a peek. LOL! Sorry, let me shove her back into the corner where she belongs. Whew! There!

Well, I only have tomorrow left and then we will head out to Tybee Island on Saturday morning. The girls are beside themselves with excitement. All the packing is done (except for the things we still need) and I'll buy our groceries for the week tomorrow. Then, everything will be shoved into the back of my minivan and off we'll go at 8am Saturday morning.

Of course, just because I'll be on vacation doesn't mean I'll be without internet. Oh hell no! I'll be hitting the wi-fi as soon as we get there. Even if I wasn't an internet junkie I'd be bombarded with so many emails if I didn't check them for a whole week. I receive hundreds of emails a DAY, so imagine seven days! It would be a disaster. Luckily, the condo has wi-fi and there are many other places all around Tybee & Savannah that have free wi-fi. So I'll be good to go.

Well, I guess I better stop the rambling and get to today's Thursday Thirteen. :-) Enjoy!

Thirteen Television Shows I Enjoy!

1. Ghost Whisperer
2. Burn Notice
3. Dr. Who (the new ones)
4. Battlestar Galactica (the new ones)
5. Moonlight (sniff, sniff, it's cancelled)
6. Graham Norton on BBC America (he's hilarious!)
7. Weeds
8. Smallville
9. Supernatural
10. Prison Break
11. Torchwood
12. Reaper
13. Bones

I like a lot of other shows, but these are some of my main ones.

:-)

Ok I'm off. I need to go out to pay a power bill, send back some Netflix movies, and then come back home to swim in the pool with the girls. I know there's something else, but I can't think of it right now. I'm sure it'll hit me as soon as I'm back home. LOL.

Thursday Thirteen - Movies!

It's already Thursday? Where did the week go? I don't feel like I've gotten anything done this week, even though all the items on my To-Do list are marked off.

This week's Thursday Thirteen topic is............

Thirteen DVDs That I've Watched Recently:

1. The Other Boleyn Girl
2. Jumper
3. Season 1 of Dexter
4. Seasons 1-6 of Smallville
5. Season 1 of The Tudors
6. Revolver (this was a terrible movie)
7. The Water Horse (the girls loved it!)
8. The Reaping
9. National Treasure: Book of Secrets
10. The Golden Compass
11. The Mist
12. Dragon Wars
13. Saw IV

Ah well, sounds like the girls are fighting again. Looks like it's time for me to find them some more housework to do this morning. LOL! One of these days they'll learn, but in the meantime I'll have a clean house. LOL!

Thursday Thirteen

Ah, it's Thursday again. The week is almost over already. Anyone got big plans for this weekend? We've had temps in the 90s all week and they are suppose to continue right into next week. Makes for great swimming pool weather. :-)

For today, the topic is.....

Thirteen Things I Plan To Do This Weekend

1. Swimming and lots of it.
2. Cooking out. Well, not actually something I'll be doing since Tim does the grilling for me.
3. Working in the yard.
4. Dealing with the kids, as usual.
5. Visiting the in-laws.
6. Waving bye to the big girls as they spend the night with my mom!
7. Drinking. Hmmm, relaxing!
8. Having fun with the hubby. Hmmm, also relaxing, but in a different sort of way.
9. Watching movies. YAY for Netflix!
10. Laundry, laundry, laundry... it never, ever, ever ends.
11. Making my To-Do list for next week. I make one every week.
12. Getting Father's Day gifts ready for the hubby and his dad.
13. Just living and being me.

We don't have anything special or spectacular planned for this weekend. It's just a normal weekend. We'll clean, eat, spend time together, and just BE. I know, I know, I'm boring. LOL! Just because I write about exciting battles, lust, romance, trials & tribulations doesn't mean that my life is riddled with them (except maybe the lust and romance parts). LOL!

Have a great weekend! Until next time...

Thursday already?

Good morning out there in blog-land. :-) I hope that everyone woke up feeling happy, healthy, and energized! Yeah, me neither. LOL. I'm so not a morning person... never have been and never will be.

It's that day of the week again, time for the Thursday Thirteen. I'm still for suggestions from my readers, so feel free to send me any TT ideas you may have, or just things you'd like to know about me. :-)

This week's topic is......

Thirteen Things About My Books

1. There are vampires in them.
2. There are werewolves in them.
3. There's SEX in them (yummy, yummy).
4. There are fierce battles in them.
5. I love them and think you should read them. LOL
6. The sex scenes make me blush when people want to discuss them with me. (So they must be good, right?)
7. They are just the beginning of a series, so you'll hav plenty to read.
8. I've been told that they leave you begging for more when you reach the last page (that's why it's a series, lol).
9. Even some men are reading them!
10. Each book has an ending that will shock and excite you.
11. None of the above apply to Toddler Logic: 50 Things That Your Toddler Wants You to Know! LOL That wouldn't quite work out well. LOL!
12. Toddler Logic is the perfect gift for new parents, parents of toddlers, and even those of us past the toddler stages.
13. Toddler Logic will make you laugh and cry at the things our kids do.

Ok, so that wasn't very revealing about myself, but I can only reveal so much before you know all about me anyway. LOL. Maybe I just sparked someone's interest in my books and created a potential new fan.

Check out my books!

Thurday Thirteen

It's that day of the week again. It's almost the weekend, but not quite yet. I like Fridays much better. LOL.

So this week all my family is focused on is that nice stimulus check that is scheduled to arrive in our checking account tomorrow. Of course all of it is earmarked for other things already. so this week's Thursday Thirteen is.....

13 Things We Will be Doing with Our Money

1. Some will go into the savings account for our vacation in July.

2. Some will rent the hubby a "bobcat" so that he can work around the house and smooth out the driveway.

3. Some will go to bringing in a dump truck load of fresh gravel for the driveway.

4. Some will buy us a new pool for the family to enjoy this summer (I've refused to drive around for entertainment this summer, so everyone will be in the pool until vacation).

5. Some will go toward the speeding ticket the hubby brought graced me with last Friday. He was doing 77 in a 55.

6. I'll be buying myself a few new items of clothing.

7. Groceries

8. Bills

9. Gas

10. A few more garden supplies/plants/seeds.

11. I'm sure the girls will beg for some of it.

12. The hubby will find something he wants, lol.

13. Lastly, my favorite is..... I'm buying myself a brand new Dell laptop! My 2nd-hand, $35, eBay, laptop is retiring into the hands of our two older children. I'm sure it'll move on to laptop heaven with them in control. LOL!

So, as you can see, our check is gone before it gets here. But it's nice to be able to have it to do things with.

My old laptop is a second (or third) hand laptop that is a 2000 model Compaq Armada. I bought it for $35 on eBay and I've had it for almost 2 yrs. It's been a good little (heavy) laptop and it was my first. BUT it is very old in computer yrs and it's sooooo slow. I have absolutely nothing but my works-in-progress on it and the memory is half full. LOL Plus it keeps giving me a blue screen saying something to the effect of "Dumping Memory". THAT can't be good! LOL

I'm so excited for the new one! It's has more processing power than our desktop computer! Not to mention that the 80GB hardrive is wayyyyyy bigger than the 6GB in my old laptop. LOL Oh, and the best part..... it's purple! My all-time favorite color ever!

Well, I guess that's enough gushing for today. How about I just throw up a photo from the Dell site.....
Pretty, huh? LOL!
Have a great Thursday!!

Thursday Thirteen 5/1/2008

Gosh, can you believe that it's already May 1st? Where have the months gone? On the upside, this brings me a month closer to my beach vacation. LOL! It's the only real vacation that we ever take and I always look forward to it so much. What's more relaxing than lying on the beach, the sun shining down on you, and listening to the waves beating against the shore? Awww, I may need to pull out my home videos from last summer to get a dose of that sound. ;-)

So, it's Thursday again, and here I am trying to figure out what my Thirteen should be about. I never know until I sit down to write it. But this time I'm in a gardening mood, so I'll post about my upcoming garden planting............

Thirteen Things I'll Be Planting:
1. corn
2. green beans
3. beets
4. cucumbers
5. tomatoes
6. potatoes
7. bell peppers
8. leaf lettuce
9. carrots
10. watermelon
11. cauliflower
12. cabbage
13. onions

There you have it! With gas and food prices going so high, we will be cutting back on a lot of things this summer. So the family and I have decided that we will grow a large garden this summer. I'd like to have enough produce growing to feed us during the summer AND to have enough for freezing and canning for the winter. I've also informed the kids and hubby that this is a FAMILY project, not a MOMMY project. I expect them all to help if they plan on eating. LOL!

Alright, that's it for today. I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday. :-)

Thursday, April 10, 2008

It's Thursday, again.

I didn't forget. YAY! It's time for the weekly Thursday Thirteen. This week's topic is.........

13 Things I Should Be Doing, But Not

1. Writing - Yes, I bypassed my daily writing time to watch a movie.
2. Making out a grocery list for tomorrow.
3. Figuring out WTH I should get DH for his birthday next weekend.
4. Folding laundry - who really wants to do that?
5. Cleaning the fireplace - same as above... who really?
6. Balancing the checkbook before DH's paycheck goes in tomorrow.
7. Signing the two mini-posters that I'll be giving away at the end of the month! (Go enter the giveaway if you haven't already).
8. Dusting
9. Vacuuming
10. Planting vegetables outside - there's still a chance of frost for the weekend. YUCK!
11. Putting photos in a photo album.
12. Putting some toddler clothes on eBay - I hate doing it because it takes forever!
13. I should be making plans to go to the Reneissance Festival this weekend, but not sure I want to this weekend.

There you have it. I'm being a slacker today. I watched The Mist this morning so that I could rush it back to Netflix in time for the kids to get Garfield for Saturday. Then I went to the grocery store for a quick milk & soda run. Then back home for lunch and this entry. I have one more hour before I need to head to school to sit in the pick-up line for my older two. The youngest is being a bit of a pain right now, but it is funny to watch her walking around the house in my favorite wedge sandals. LOL!

If any of you readers out there would like to suggest a Thursday Thirteen topic for me to enlighten you with, feel free to email me anytime at christie@christiesilvers.com . I'm always open to suggestions. :-)

Thursday Thirteen

AH! I'm on time this week. I didn't forget and I even thought of it at 7am this morning. YAY me! LOL.

After a discussion with a friend about me being described as eccentric, I decided that this week's topic would be.....

13 Words That Describe Me

1. Happy
2. Creative
3. Caring
4. Passionate
5. Bossy
6. Friendly
7. Supportive
8. Tired (aren't we all)
9. Driven
10. A Bitch (yes, I've been called this, but I don't mind because it's true when I need to be)
11. Flirty
12. Frisky
13. And lastly, ECCENTRIC (which really just encompasses all of the above)

I think it's funny when I'm described as eccentric. I've never really thought of myself being connected to that word. But, I suppose when you look at me as a whole--the things that I like, the things that I don't like, and my attitude about particular topics, the word eccentric could be included in there. I am who I am. I like what I like. I want things the way I want them. And I will do whatever it takes to get things just how I like them to be. That's just ME!

Thursday Thirteen

Welcome to Thursday everyone! It has been one long, crazy week around here. But, I'm still alive, so I guess it's all good. LOL.

My Thursday Thirteen them this week is...

Thirteen Things That I Learned This Week:

1. I learned who my true friends are & weeded out some less-than-sincere ones.
2. I learned that placing a glass casserole dish on a stove that is still on will result in flying shards of glass and casserole all across the kitchen & diningroom.
3. I learned to be grateful for the local pizza place after dealing with an exploding casserole. LOL
4. I learned that cleaning Tator Tot Casserole off of the stove eyes is quite an extensive job.
5. I learned that my dog & I have a better relationship when he can spend warm days outside.
6. I learned that telling my toddler 27,000 times not to spit water in the floor still isn't enough times.
7. I learned that a glass of wine (or three) does wonders for the spirit. ;-)
8. I learned that I don't like meatless hotdogs. Ewww!
9. I learned that good quality bunkbeds are exptremely expensive.
10. I learned that I might be getting a much needed office here at home. YAY!
11. I learned that my girls have widely varying taste in decor.
12. I learned that everyone can easily choose a room theme when Mommy says she'll do it herself. (They don't want to see what I'd choose for their room, lol.)
13. Lastly, I learned that I am a stronger woman than I thought. Life may throw you curve balls (after curve ball, after curve ball), but I can catch those curve balls and move on.

I hope that everyone has had a great week, and will have a wonderful upcoming weekend. I will be out doing some shopping this weekend. We'll be coming into a nice tax refund tomorrow & we'll go put it right back into the economy. LOL!

Thursday Thirteen

I figure that I'd better get this done now, since there is a scheduled outage here on Blogger this evening. I'd hate to be in the middle of this when the outage happens. So here's my Thursday Thirteen for this week. The topic is....

Thirteen Things That I've Done Today:

1. Washed, dried, & put away 2 loads of laundry.
2. Emptied & refilled the dishwasher.
3. Spent a few hours making some changes & updating my website.
4. Trained our dog to "heel". His pulling at the leash is getting annoying.
5. Ate a healthy lunch with my toddler.
6. Planned a healthy dinner (that doesn't always happen).
7. Visited with my grandmother.
8. Picked up my middle daughter from school.
9. Came home for less than an hour and then went back to pick up my oldest daughter from school (she had chorus practice today).
10. Played with my toddler, so that she wouldn't be glued to the tv all day (that happens sometimes when Mommy has work to do).
11. Chatted with some friends, replied to emails, and did general, everyday internet stuff.
12. Helped my middle daughter with her homework.
13. Lastly, I will get all three girls bathed, pajamaed, and ready for bed, ON TIME tonight.

Today was generally a boring, nothing special kind of day. But, we need those types of days to break up the busy, stressful, not-enough-time days. This weekend will be a busy one for me, so I'll take a peaceful Thursday anytime. :-)

If you're having a nothing special kind of day, stop by my website and check out the changes I made today. The pages are now wider and I've added a couple of new things (including a freebie wallpaper of A Birth at Dawn for anyone who wants it).

Christie's Thursday Thirteen

It's that time of the week again. I almost missed posting this today because I've been off a day all week due to the girls being out of school Monday for MLK Day. But, at the last minute it hit me and here I am. LOL!

Thirteen Things That Make Me Smile

1. The look of a sleeping toddler.
2. My husband kissing my neck.
3. The smell of cinnamon.
4. The sound of all three of my daughters laughing & playing together.
5. A clean house that didn't require me to lift a finger (that never happens, but WOULD make me smile).
6. Listening to my MP3 player so loudly that I won't hear a sound anyone makes. That's when the hubby has to tend to the children because I can't hear them! LMAO!
7. The first copy of a new book with my name on the cover. There's nothing like that feeling.
8. When my toddler runs up to me and says, "I want to hug you!"
9. When my toddler sings along to the radio with me. It's sooo funny to hear a 3 yr old signing "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake.
10. The first step into a steaming, hot shower... alone! Well, maybe that's more of an AHHHH instead of a smile. LOL
11. The sensation of my fingers flying across the keyboard because a scene in my book is just flowing out of me like water from a faucet. I love that feeling and I always smile when it's over!
12. When my 11 yr old daughter comes home from school and tells me about the woes of a preteen in today's society. I laugh everytime she gets flabbergausted at something a preteen boy has done that day. It is so funny!
13. The realization that LOST comes back on tv next week!! Woohoo!

There you have it! I'll be back tomorrow with a regular post. It's been one crazy week and I just haven't had time to put my days into words. Anyway, have a nice night!

Thursday's Thirteen & Happy Birthday to ME!

Yep, today is my 31st birthday. I didn't want to turn 30, much less 31. UGH! But, the years keep coming, no matter how hard we try to slow them down. So, happy birthday to me!

Here's what you came for...

Thursday's Thirteen
I do...

1. I do make my children stand in the corner when they are in trouble.
2. I do love my husband more now than I did when we married almost 14 yrs ago.
3. I do things in bed that would make you blush (now go buy one of my books and see what I'm talking about, lol).
4. I do enjoy a good bowl of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Icecream on occassion.
5. I do sing along with music on the radio while I'm driving. If you ever see me driving by, my mouth will be wide open while I sing as loud as I can.
6. I do hate cleaning bathrooms. They are always last on my list of rooms to clean.
7. I do need a new laptop.
8. I do build a fire in the fireplace much quicker than the hubby can. LOL.
9. I do expect my husband & children to help around the house. They all have their own chores.
10. I do yell when my first three requests are ignored. It takes three times before my voices raises and everyone in the house knows that I mean business... NOW!
11. I do sleep late at every chance that I can get.
12. I do feel sleep-deprived, even after sleeping late.
13. I do enjoy many tv shows, but I DVR most of them and watch when I can find the time.

There you have it! That one was a little harder than the other ones. Now I'm off to take a shower, do my hair & makeup, and get ready to go out to lunch with my grandmother and youngest daughter for my birthday. Happy birthday to me!

Thursday Thirteen

Well, it's Thursday again. So here is my Thursday Thirteen list for today.

13 Things That I Don't...

1. I don't have a new vehicle.
2. I don't like my husband's truck.
3. I don't mind loud music.
4. I don't go more than one day without washing laundry.
5. I don't iron clothes if I can help it.
6. I don't wear high-heeled dress shoes. I have knee-high boots though.
7. I don't skate. Couldn't do it if my life depended on it. LOL!
8. I don't ride on motorcycles.
9. I don't like tomatoes, unless they are pureed and in a sauce or salsa.
10.I don't wear my natural haircolor if I can help it. It's a BLAH brown color, naturally.
11.I don't know why my children like to scream when I'm on the phone.
12.I don't know why my husband thinks I care anything about how many weeks, days & hours are left until Nascar racing begins again.
13.Lastly, I don't smoke, can't stand being around smoking people, and was absolutely thrilled when smoking was banned in public locations here in Georgia!!

Now that the list is completed, I wanted to ask a little question. I was working on a few tweaks to the blog this morning... made it a little bigger and fixed my header banner above... and I wanted to see if anyone noticed that the little black separation lines are gone. So, do you like it with the separation lines between the three sections or without, or does it not matter? LOL.

Ok, I guess that's it for today. Or maybe not!
I found out yesterday that I was nominated in the Preditors&Editors 2007 Author Readers Poll. So come on by and vote for me!! :-)
