Eternally Deadly is live! Get yours for only $0.99.

Today's the day! The day for the end of the Liz Baker series. I feel a bit tearful about this ending, yet it's a good thing, too. These characters, who have been with me for more than a decade, have finally found their endings. Some happier than others.

For the next 24 hours Eternally Deadly will be on sale for a launch day price of only $0.99! Tomorrow that price will increase to $2.99, so get it while you can.

While we're at it, if you haven't started this long-running series, the first book is FREE everywhere. Time for Death is the beginning of Liz Baker's vampiric life. Family secrets come out and she has to figure out how to live her life with her new surprising ancestry.

To get you started on book 10, check out the prologue:

PROLOGUE

Once upon a time there was a woman looking for a little hanky-panky fun with her beau. He’d suggested a late night cemetery romp, and she was usually up for anything and everything. However, that was the one thing she should have declined. Like most spur-of-the-moment decisions, it forever changed her life with that one acceptance.

Yeah, I’m that woman. That was the beginning of my half-vampire lifestyle change. It wasn’t a choice, more of a forced acknowledgment, but it changed everything I thought I knew about myself and the world around me.

It’s been a rough few years around here. The last several months being the worst of all. We’ve fought monsters and lost friends. I’ve been kidnapped—I don’t even know how many times—drugged, bashed over the head, beaten, bitten, and called a whore more times than I can count.

On the plus side, I’ve gained a chosen family tighter than my blood one ever was. We’ve gained and strengthened new powers to aid us in defeating anything that comes our way. I’ve even amassed a small collection of mystical jewelry. A pendant and a ring with enough energy to enhance my powers into something deadly enough to destroy a creature as strong and old as The Master, at least in theory. Who else could say such a thing? And then there’s my two extremely unnaturally sexy men. Yes, two! Mmm…

Chad Langford has been the love of my life for a while now. Tall, muscular, quiet, strong, and resilient, he used to be a cop, and when that ended, he became security in my old bar. He stands by me no matter what I do, and doesn’t flinch at the stupid shit I say from time to time. He recently gained the power to control wind and joined my coven of paranormal creatures. It didn’t make him any less human, but prevented me from worrying so much about his safety.

His love for me is on a deep level. We get along. Laugh together. He doesn’t tease me too hard, though I’m was happy to take it. We make each other smile more often than not. Our love is a forever kind of love. I want to protect him, and he cann’t imagine not protecting me. And don’t even get me started on the bedroom side of things. Mmm… Times two!

Montgomery Carson is completely different. We first met when he was my hired pilot for my inherited personal jet. It was my first time flying—which he got a kick out of—but it wouldn’t be the last time.

Monty is a werewolf with an attitude problem. He used to be some sort of special ops military guy with a team of soldiers who would die for him if need be. He gained loyalty by being the powerful leader who always put his people first. But now he used those skills and connections to keep us safe from all the monsters outside our growing family.

We started out as friends, but our relationship quickly transformed the moment his brand marked him as part of my coven. A deeper connection grew between us until he couldn’t accept that I wouldn’t be with him. My attraction to him was more of a deep, soul-connecting need rather than something merely physical. I couldn’t live without him, and when it came down to choosing Chad over Monty (which I did, over and over), the two men thought it best for us to become more of a threesome. It was unconventional, but then again, we were an unconventional kind of family.

Over the last few months, our lives as a united threesome haven’t really changed much from before we made the decision. The dynamic was still the same, only now Monty felt more comfortable touching me in front of others. Chad joined the coven and understood the connection more than he ever could before, erasing the jealousy between the two men. Making it even easier on me. Less frustration, anxiety, and worrying over hurting their feelings, and more time loving them fully. And let me just say: the sex is amazing!

As for the rest of my family, it has grown larger than just the five of us with powers. Camilla, a demon, has hooked up with my newest friend, Mack. They make a unique couple, with him being human and her being some sort of dangerous, sex-crazed, leather-skinned creature with a tail. She could cut a throat with the flick of her wrist, or the swipe of her tail. However, he was fantastic at managing the estate, which he took upon himself to do with no prodding from me. Thankfully so, since I’d hoped he would take on the role. That was his profession, and I was tired of people asking me to run to Sam’s Club for toilet paper, or where the plungers were. Why did they always think I knew?

Rick and Amanda Lou settled into a quiet existence around the estate. With The Master nowhere to be seen, and no other baddies hitting us up for a fight in the recent months, I’d see them going on picnics, cuddling in the garden, whispering sweet nothings at the breakfast table, or just disappearing for days at a time. I could always tap into the mental connection with Amanda if needed, but I left them be for as long as this lasted.

My half-sister, Aimee (fathered by our vampire sperm donor, Gregory), recently married her love, Murphy Donovan. If anyone deserved happiness, it was Aimee. I hoped to erase her miserable childhood, timid personality, and terrorizing memories of Gregory forcing her to try to kill me while he impregnated woman after woman to create his very own army of vampire halflings, none of which had the powers of his firstborn—me.

Murphy, eternally devoted to Aimee, wanted to love and protect her. He was one of Monty’s loyal soldiers, but he’d defy any order given if it meant danger would come to his beloved. And to think I suspected he had ulterior motives when he came into the picture, due to how quickly he hooked up with Aimee. This was a moment where I’m grateful I was wrong.

Aleksy started out as the Skinless Skull Man, trying to kill me in my nightmares. He was a monster chasing me on horseback every time I closed my eyes after that night in the cemetery. In a past life, a witch had tasked him with killing anyone who had the powers of the Wheel of Being, so it was my turn. In the end, we created an alliance, thankfully. An acceptance of mutual survival.

I—with the help of my coven and a three hundred-year-old Gorgon witch—pulled him from his eternal afterlife with the promise of him helping us destroy The Master. He taught us how to use our powers with strength and assurance. We learned to channel all five powers into something capable of blowing anything to smithereens. He’d gone from enemy to friend, and I was grateful for his willingness to stick around and help.

And that just leaves me. I’m not doing great. I’ve had a difficult time with Morgan’s death, and Micheal coming close to death. Knowing all this pain was my fault was hard. It ripped my heart to shreds and pulled me deep down into a depression. The guys did their best to cheer me up, and sometimes it helped push the darkness to the back of mind for a little while, but the pain always returned.

Unbearable anguish had me in tears regularly. Some days, I stayed in bed well into the night. Then I roam the mansion for hours. It’s become a serious problem. Sleep is fleeting; nightmares terrorize my mind. Even Hamish raised his concern at my decrease in food consumption. The others voiced their desires to help me, but I didn’t know what they could do. All the self-help books say is it would take time, but how much time?

My family repeatedly assured me none of this was my fault, but that’s not what my mind tells me. I hope things improve, but the ominous feeling of incoming disaster was almost too much to bear. Would they be safer without me? They refused to consider the possibility, but that didn’t stop my mind from rushing to the time I’d spent away from them in The Master’s castle. At least I knew they were safe from him while I was there. Yet, I couldn’t force myself to give in to his demands that I stand by his side. Even my family wasn’t worth risking the entire world for.

It was mostly a peaceful time at the mansion, but everyone knew it wouldn’t last. The Master and his minions were still out there. We still had James, his right-hand man, locked in our basement, refusing to entertain the thought of spilling The Master’s secret whereabouts. Chad and Monty had worked him over many times, but the man remained loyal to his leader. He’d been loyal for over a thousand years, so the last few weeks were nothing to him.

Unfortunately, his usefulness was wearing thin, and I didn’t know what to do next. His fate was yet to be determined. As were all of ours. Only time would tell where we’d end up. I just hoped it was on the side of good. However, with my life, one could never be certain.

I hope you're all having a glorious week! I'll see you next time. :)

The 10th Liz Baker book. Coming soon!

Welcome to March! Spring is right around the corner, and we're already seeing signs of its arrival here in north Georgia. The daffodils are bloomed out and it won't be long before the trees start budding. I told the hubs if he plans to do any work in the forest he better get on it before the vines and weeds come back.

I had an issue over the weekend though. We went to Tractor Supply to get some chicken feed for my hens and *BOOM* the baby chicks are out! Squee!! And not only are they baby chicks, but they're Easter Eggers. I've wanted some for soooo long. These are the hens that lay blue and green eggs. So let me tell you it took a lot of willpower to walk out of that store with just the feed for my hens. That's not to say I won't go back, but right now I didn't buy more chickens. Both Tim and our 17yo say I have enough chickens, but oh well. Momma probably gonna get more chickens. LOL!

In the meantime, I have lots of good stuff I'm working on for 2022. The first being the release of my 10th Liz Baker book. This story will release on April 5th and you can preorder for only $0.99 until the big day.

Eternally Deadly is the last book in the Liz Baker series. I had fun writing it and I hope it brings an acceptable close to the series for all the readers who enjoy Liz's crazy life.

Recently, I finished a short story that will come out later in the year (a vampiric take on Jack & Jill), and I'm working on another short story now (vampire meets tired single mom in a grocery store). I'm also working on two novels for releases this year (Penny, Bk 2 & a new devil story). It's going to be a busy year, and I've already used up two months of the year. Eek! I'd like to crank out a third novel, but it would be a 2023 release and depend on the demands of this year's releases. So, we'll see how that goes.

Right now, I'd like to send my thoughts to the people of Ukraine. The world is already filled with so much darkness and despair that it's a shame people feel the need to inflict this pain on others. It's a sad time for the world at large. My heart goes out to everyone suffering.

The big day is right around the corner!

Happy Friday, everyone. This has been a long, difficult week around here, but with the end here I have a moment to breathe and share some good news with all of you.

Monday, March 29, 2021, is the day Death Comes to Us All (Liz Baker, book 8) releases! I'm so excited about this release, yet again, I get excited for all my book releases. Those moments allow me a sigh of relief. Whew! Another project done and out into the world. 😀

I was just telling the hubby it took me a moment to realize this is my 17th book. Wow! There are many authors out there with far more books than me, but that doesn't take away from the sense of accomplishment I felt when I realized it.

With all that said, even after all these years and 17 projects, I still get hit with the nerves when it grows closer to a release day. Did I do the story justice? Will anyone like it? How many people will hate it? Did I give too much detail, not enough detail, show or tell? The list goes on and on until I overwhelm myself and have to take a deep breath. It's that moment I do the one thing I do every single time this happens.

I say, "F*ck it!" 😂

There will always be people who hate it. I say, "The story wasn't for them." I told the story the way I always tell my stories. The characters don't hate me, so that's a plus. The book already has pre-orders, and considering it's book 8, those people know what they're in for. LOL! No turning back now!

That makes me feel better. This isn't a brand new series (though I do the same talk-up for those, as well), so readers are already well-established and know the characters, making everything a little easier on me.

In the meantime, I wanted to share all the purchase links with you. The book is on pre-order for $0.99, and will stay at that price until April 3rd. After that, the price increases to $2.99. If you're interested in this book, you can save some $$ by pre-ordering it, or buying during release week.

The book will be picked up by more stores soon, and I'll post as soon as the paperbacks are available (those take a little longer). Honestly, I can't wait to get my hands on this beauty. The cover is stunning.

If you're new to the Liz Baker series, book 1 is always FREE by visiting my website http://www.christiesilvers.com and signing up for my newsletter. It's also free on a few retailers, like Apple Books. I'm still working on getting the other sites to cooperate and reduce the price to free.

In the meantime, I'm off to play with the grandbaby and just breathe before getting started on book 9.

Review Request (I might be begging!)

Good morning, lovely readers! I hope the week is treating you kindly, and that everyone close to you is staying safe and healthy.

This week I have a request from all of you that have read my books, and I hate to ask it, but reviews are the bread and butter of an author's life. We need them to sell more books, rank higher on book selling sites like Amazon, and even to gain a little "Hmm" from higher ups in the publishing world who may be interested in doing more with our books.

It's a necessity in the book world, and even I'm bad about not rushing over to leave reviews right after finishing a book, but I'm determined to do better. It was actually one of my goals for 2020. :)

I know I have a lot of readers just from the comments, emails, PMs, texts, phone calls, and every day life, so please consider taking a few minutes of your time and leaving a quick review on any/all of the books you've read. It means the world to me when someone does.

While you're over on the Amazon Author page, take a second and hit that "+Follow" button to make sure you get up-to-date info from Amazon. :)

Thanks, everyone! Know that I appreciate every one of you. <3

It's Release Day!

Death's Seduction marks the 15th book I've released since 2005, and the 7th book in the Liz Baker series. This series will be coming to an end in the next book or two (I haven't decided yet), so now is the time to catch up with Liz and her group.

If you took advantage of the pre-order phase of the release, you should have gotten your copy early this morning. Not only did you not have to worry about remembering Release Day, but you also got an amazing deal when you ordered. Good job!

For those who forgot or didn't have the time to get the book for only $0.99, never fear! The price will go up today, but it'll only be at $2.99. *As of this posting all locations are still at $0.99*

If you've been part of the Facebook Release Day Event then you're also entered into the giveaway for a $10 Amazon gift card (Facebook is not responsible for the giveaway). Yay, you! I'll announce the winner on Saturday, May 25th.

Thanks, again, to everyone who has stood by me over the years. To all my loyal readers, I <3 you guys!

Writing a Book's Back Cover Blurb

For the days I'm drawing a blank, I have a list of blog ideas and it just so happens that today's activities coincided with one of the topics: Difficulties in Writing a Back Blurb.

Ack! Today, I'm doing just that for the upcoming first book of my Penny Montague series. How do you condense hundreds and hundreds of pages into only a few paragraphs for the back cover? I'll tell you right now it is NOT easy. It's hard to take this story you've been working on for months, or even years, and shrink it down into a snippet that's supposed to attract readers. You know the story inside and out, left and right, up and down, but you have to remember that your readers don't. This is their first introduction to the story and they're waiting on you to rile their interest enough to say, "Hm, that sounds interesting."

I usually go through several drafts of a back blurb before finally settling on the finished product. And even then I'll still second guess myself and want to change things. However, once it goes to the cover designer that's that. No more changes. Game over. Deal with it and move on.

My process usually consists of an ink pen and a legal pad pages, with numerous additions, words marked out, arrows pointing to different locations for certain paragraphs, and maybe even some frustrated scribbling. And even when I think I finally have it and I start typing it into my computer, I still change, add, and subtract things from it. Today was no different.

Penny's story is flowing well for me right now, but that doesn't mean her blurb would. It took me several hours to get this the way I wanted it, and even then I sent it off to a couple of my trusted readers for a double, triple, quadruple check before sending it to my cover designer, and ultimately sharing it with all of you.

So, without further adieu, here is the description for:

DEVASTATING SORROW
Penny Montague, Book 1

Witch and ex-military, Penny Montague is sick of her immortal life. Working as a phone sex operator to occupy her time and keep in touch with her humanity, she spends her days trying to find a way to end her long, lonely existence and her nights pretending to care about men with mommy issues, strange fantasies, and twisted imaginations.

Life wasn't always this bad though. When Penny's ninety-four year old son, Charlie, dies in her arms the crushing reality of her long life truly hits her. What else is there to live for without her son? She's ready to give it all up, and has tried multiple times, when her brother, Byron, shows up on her doorstep, trouble on his tail as always. It wasn't until armed guards burst into her home, drag her from her bed, and throw them both into the dungeons of Midnight Manor that Penny realizes this is much worse than Byron's normal scheming.

Midnight Manor is the control center of all immortals, run by an elite group called The Council. Nothing happens in the world without Midnight Manor having their fingers in the pot. They raise and educate immortal children from an early age and place them throughout the world in positions beneficial to their causes, both present and future. There isn't anything that happens, be it war, arms trades, or scientific achievement, that Midnight Manor doesn't influence.

Penny retired from the Midnight Manor military nearly a century before, but now, in order to save her brother from being tortured for the rest of his immortal life because he slept with the wrong man's wife, The Council gives Penny the choice to hunt down and return a runaway scientist or risk a fate worse than death and join her brother in the torture chambers for eternity.

Penny, with the help of a few people from her past, decides to at least attempt the retrieval. After all, according to The Council, the scientist is a danger to all immortals and his research must be returned. Tracking was her specialty during her time in the service.

This should be an easy in and out kind of mission with only a couple of days of work involved. Right?

Pick That Drink Contest

Who would like to win an e-copy of Time for Death (Liz Baker, book 1) and have their name immortalized in my next Liz Baker book?  How might you accomplish this?  Well, it's quite easy, actually.

Starting tomorrow, for the next seven days, I'll be taking entries via drink ideas in the comments section of this blog post.  Simply comment below with your idea on what the first drink served in book 4 should be.

As we know, Liz Baker is the owner and bartender of her small town bar Athena's Ambrosia.  She serves anything and everything her patrons ask for.  Most of the country guys just want a Budweiser, but there are the occasional orders for Strawberry Daquaris and Fuzzy Nipples.  You just never know what someone will want.

Well.... now you CAN know what the first drink served will be.

The winner will be drawn via Random.org to receive an e-copy of Time for Death and have their name included on the Acknowledgements page of book 4.

Date(s): July 15th - July 21st
How:  Comment below.
What:  Post your suggestion for the first drink served in book 4.
When: Winner will be drawn & announced on July 22nd.
Goodies: Winner receives e-copy of Time for Death & their name in book 4.

Blog Tour coming in June.

Coming June 1st I'll be on a 21-day blog tour.  I don't have all the details yet, but it should be a whole lotta fun for everyone.  I'll post lots more the tour when I have more details.

In the meantime, I'm working on ideas for the upcoming guest blog posts and would love to hear your thoughts.

What would you like to read about from me?  Is there something you've always wanted to know about me but never asked?  About the books?  Characters?  Etc.

If you have an idea for one of my upcoming blog tour posts feel free to post them here, on Facebook, or e-mail me.

Oh, and if you'd like to be one of the blog tour hosts, sign up at http://www.temptingbooktours.com/ .

Do you have a board on Pinterest?

I'm sure many of you have already heard about the fun that is Pinterest.  For those of you that haven't, OMG!  Why the hell not?!

Just kidding.  :)

Pinterest is a really cool site that becomes mildly addictive (you've been warned) the longer you're on it.  First off, you create an account, then build "boards."  You fill (pin) these boards with pictures and videos of things that interest, intrigue, motivate you.  These boards are shared with your friends, who may repin your pictures as things that interest, intrigue, motivate them.

It's a continuous cycle of sharing ideas.  And I love it!

I pin photos of my dogs, our gardening adventures, the follies of raising chickens, backyard ideas, places I've traveled and places I'd like to travel to, and even organizational ideas for around the house.

How does that pertain to author life, you might ask.  Well, aside from pinning my books, I pin books of friends, photos that motive me to write, author inspirational quotes, locations that I might like to use for book settings, etc.

Just yesterday, I created two new boards:  Liz Baker's Crazy Life and Athena's Ambrosia.

Those of you who read my Liz Baker books will definitely enjoy these boards.  Though not very full at this moment, I am hoping to pin dozens upon dozens of pictures that relate to the book series.  I even have plans for a Chad board, ladies!  We both know you wanna see Chad in all his ex-cop hotness.  Mmmm...

If you're already on Pinterest stop by and follow (I like to follow back).  If you're not on Pinterest, what the heck are you waiting for?  :D

Have a lovely Wednesday!

It's Black Friday! Time to get that holiday shopping under way (if you haven't already) and take advantage of all the sales and discounts businesses are offering. You don't wanna get knocked to the floor and trampled on by that granny in search of the best deal on pajamas. Whew! It's dangerous out there!

Instead of battling the warzone known as Wal-mart, or the mall, stay home and take advantage of some online deals. Specifically, my Liz Baker Black Friday sale!

For this weekend only, you can snag both books 1 and 2, in e-book formats, for the low price of only $0.99 each. Not only will these books keep you entertained, but you'll be up to speed for when book 3, Killer Intentions, comes out next month. How's that for a deal? :)

Digital Autographs

There has been much discussion over the years about how an author can't autograph an e-book. Many technically savvy people have thrown around ideas and programs from time to time in an attempt to remedy this problem, but this is the first time I've seen one that I like the looks of.

Yesterday I discovered Kindlegraph. This is a site where people can search for the books they like, send the author an autograph request, and the receive the autograph directly to their Kindle. It's quite interesting.

It only took a few minutes for me to add all of my available books to the site, and now anyone can request a digital autograph for their copies. I've already sent a few and look forward to sending more.

You simply log in using your Twitter account, update your account information to include your Kindle's e-mail address (there are instructions for that), and then start requesting digital autographs. I've heard that some people are making separate folders in their Kindles just for all the autographs they're collecting.

All in all, I find this website intriguing and quite useful. I'll be sharing the link with everyone who stops by my table at Book 'Em NC in February as well. :)

"I loved Liz, she is a great character, just enough sass, strength, and a touch of baggage." -- Bryan Curry, Hellmouth Podcast

Wonderful Wednesday

Morning everyone!  I've decided that today will be one wonderful Wednesday.  Yesterday was a good day, but today will be wonderful.

I got my Kindle yesterday!  The UPS man decided to draw my day out and not show up until 5 p.m.  I was pacing the floors.  LOL.  Tim kept teasing me by saying, "He's not coming.  No Kindle for you!"  I'd just stick out my bottom lip and give him the pouty face.

I had ordered a few books for the Kindle before it even arrived.  What?  I needed to have some on there the first time I turned it on.  Sheesh!  Can't a girl enjoy a new book on her new Kindle the moment she pulls it out of the cardboard box that she shredded like a wild animal trying to get at a raw slab of beef?  Is that so much to ask?  Geez.

Anyway, I'm loving it and can't wait to see how long it takes me to fill it up.  Yes, that'll be my goal... fill my Kindle up with as any books as possible in the shortest amount of time.  Oh, wait!  Maybe my goal should be to also read all of those books.  LOL!

Today I need to run a few errands.  Then, this afternoon I have to take the 5yr old for that one little vaccination that the pediatrician's office was out of when the girls had their check-ups last month.  Here's hoping I won't have to hold her down this time (but knowing I'll have to anyway).

Okay, I'm off.  Tim's back from taking the older girls to school, and the youngest wants breakfast.  I have some e-book files to transfer from the laptop to my new "Precious".  I'll be having a wonderful Wednesday, and hope you will too.  :-)
