Night of Enchanted Realms Event

How is tomorrow October 1st?! This year has sped by faster than I expected. I recently received an invite for an event in May 2026, and I was like, "Wasn't it just May?" 🤔

Last weekend, I attended the Night of Enchanted Realms marketplace in Dalton, GA. The setup was perfect for attendees to stroll from table to table and see everything the vendors had to offer. And there were sooooo many interesting items for sale!

Mr. Silvers and I arrived at 8am and got busy setting up my table. I practiced the table layout at home for about a week before the event, and yet I still changed things around once I was at the event. LOL! I have so many books that it's difficult to get them all in there without hiding another one. I'm definitely going to invest in some shelving to raise the height of the table display for future events.

It was a slow start before the crowds started arriving, but once they did, I was busy, busy, busy!

I had a display copy of The Cadence of Death deluxe hardcover set up so potential readers could flip through and see the beautiful artwork, printed edges, and the foiling on the dust jacket and case cover. That was a huge hit with everyone as the artwork really drew people in. They commented, flipped through, and then listened as I went through my sale details. Almost everyone ended up buying the book right then! There were a few who said they'd think abut it and come back. A couple came back to find the book sold out. Eek!

At the end of the day, I'd sold out of all the hardcover editions and only had 1 paperback copy left of Cadence. *Squeeee!* 🎉

I had a great time, met a lot of amazing people, and introduced myself to many potential readers. It was a good day, and I'm glad I attended. 😊

The 10th Liz Baker book. Coming soon!

Welcome to March! Spring is right around the corner, and we're already seeing signs of its arrival here in north Georgia. The daffodils are bloomed out and it won't be long before the trees start budding. I told the hubs if he plans to do any work in the forest he better get on it before the vines and weeds come back.

I had an issue over the weekend though. We went to Tractor Supply to get some chicken feed for my hens and *BOOM* the baby chicks are out! Squee!! And not only are they baby chicks, but they're Easter Eggers. I've wanted some for soooo long. These are the hens that lay blue and green eggs. So let me tell you it took a lot of willpower to walk out of that store with just the feed for my hens. That's not to say I won't go back, but right now I didn't buy more chickens. Both Tim and our 17yo say I have enough chickens, but oh well. Momma probably gonna get more chickens. LOL!

In the meantime, I have lots of good stuff I'm working on for 2022. The first being the release of my 10th Liz Baker book. This story will release on April 5th and you can preorder for only $0.99 until the big day.

Eternally Deadly is the last book in the Liz Baker series. I had fun writing it and I hope it brings an acceptable close to the series for all the readers who enjoy Liz's crazy life.

Recently, I finished a short story that will come out later in the year (a vampiric take on Jack & Jill), and I'm working on another short story now (vampire meets tired single mom in a grocery store). I'm also working on two novels for releases this year (Penny, Bk 2 & a new devil story). It's going to be a busy year, and I've already used up two months of the year. Eek! I'd like to crank out a third novel, but it would be a 2023 release and depend on the demands of this year's releases. So, we'll see how that goes.

Right now, I'd like to send my thoughts to the people of Ukraine. The world is already filled with so much darkness and despair that it's a shame people feel the need to inflict this pain on others. It's a sad time for the world at large. My heart goes out to everyone suffering.

Happy New Year! It's cover reveal time!

Isn't she lovely? I fell head-over-heels for this cover the moment I saw it. It's beautiful! I used the same cover designer as the entire series and after all these years she has amazed me yet again. This is actually #2 out of 3 designs because she wanted to get it just right. Even after the 3rd one I told her I just couldn't pass up this one. I love it!

Next up will be the release date announcement. I'm hoping to let you all know about it in a couple of weeks, after I get everything in order, so be on the lookout for that one. :)

Best wishes and a Happy New Year to you all! I hope 2021 brings you peace, happiness, health, and love. Fingers crossed for a better year than 2020 provided. Love and hugs to everyone!

Book 'Em NC 2015 was a hit!

Before the doors opened to
the public. More pics on
Facebook.
Well, I did it! I made it home from my annual trip to Lumberton, NC for the Book 'Em NC Conference & Book Fair. There were more than 3,000 people in attendance, and my sales showed it. Yay!

Before I left, I was painfully close to running out of books. Eek! You might think that's a good thing, but it's actually very scary when you still have time to sell even more. I guess the only time you should run out is the last minute, right before the doors close. Now that would be perfect!

I met new friends, new readers, and excitedly caught up with old friends and fans. It was a lot of fun. I even did something I'd never done before.... a panel talk!  O...M...G. I thought I'd pass out from nerves before 2 P.M. arrived. Thankfully I didn't, and once I got in there and the discussion started the time flew by. I was shocked when the moderator said we only had 2 minutes left of our 45 minute session. And we actually went over by 5 minutes. The topic was "Creating Other Worlds" and I had a lot of fun answering both the moderator's questions and questions from the audience.

Overall, it was a great weekend, but I'm glad to be back home... until the next one.

I have two books planned for 2015, the first of which will be the start of a new series. I already have several notes and snippets written for this books, but now it's time to jump straight into the writing, feet first. Later in the year will be the 7th book in the Liz Baker series. I'm excited to see these two come to life and find homes with my fans/readers. I hope you'll enjoy the new series as much (or more) as the Liz series. I think it'll be a fun one to write.

Now I'll get back to putting my house in order after the kids had it to themselves for nearly three days. Ugh. And they claimed they cleaned, too.  Uh-huh, whatever you say. Teenagers! LOL.

Book 'Em 2014 was a blast!

Last weekend I attended the 2014 Book 'Em NC Authors Conference & Book Fair. This was my third year attending and I'm already signed up for next year. I had a great time.

Friday night was the author meet & greet. I meet up with old friends, and met a few new ones. I missed some authors who weren't able to make it this year, too. Overall, it was a fun evening with lots of food, drinks, and conversation.

The next morning we were up and at 'em early. The fair didn't open to the public until 9:30am, but all the authors filed in early to set up our tables, browse, and chit-chat with others. Here's a pic of my table set-up. I was supposed to share a table with my best author friend, Robin Renee Ray, but she wasn't able to make it all the way from New Mexico. Therefore, I ended up with a table to all to myself (and with 5 books to sell it was needed).

By the end of the day I had shaken so many hands, told so many people about my vampires, sold several books to new readers (and a few to old fans), and even turned down the offer of a new publisher. I was exhausted! It was a blast, but I'm always glad when it's over and I can get back home to my own bed, and back to writing the next book.

Here are a couple more pictures from the big day. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, said hello, and/or purchased a Liz Baker book. I hope to see you all next year!

Three Weeks 'Til Book 'Em NC

For the last few years, every February I make the trek from the north Georgia mountains to a small town in North Carolina called Lumberton for a massive, ever-growing writer's conference and book fair called Book 'Em North Carolina. I have such a great time during this one day event that I always immediately agree to come back the next year.

So here we are, a mere three weeks from the big day. I can't wait! I'll be there with bells on (*Remember to buy bells*) ready to meet and greet new readers and old with handfuls of chocolates, lots of smiles and conversation, and dozens of copies of the Liz Baker series.

If you'll be anywhere near Lumberton on February 22nd please, please, please stop by and say hello. The even is free to the public. With over 75 authors, publishers, and literary agents signing books and giving panel talks, you're bound to find something of interest.

Here are all the details:

When: February 22, 2014
Where: Robeson Community College in Lumberton, NC

My table will be down the first hallway you come to as you pass the cash registers. But don't worry, the entire set up is one big circle. You'll come around to my table at some point.  :D

Fun Times at Book 'Em

Left to Right: P.M. Terrell, Christie Silvers,
Pamela J. Kimmell, Judy Walter
It's been over a week since I attended the Book 'Em NC 2013 conference and book fair, so I suppose it's time to finally write a blog entry about it. LOL. Can you tell I'm slacking on my blog lately? Oops!

Anyway, the trip from Georgia to North Carolina was fairly uneventful (thankfully). Especially considering how nasty the drive up was last year. Those darn rain storms can cause all sorts of havoc. Luckily, we left a little later this year and managed to arrive at the hotel on time for check-in instead of early like last year. No waiting around for our room to be cleaned this time. :)

We arrived in Lumberton, NC with a few hours to rest before having to head out to the Author Meet-n-Greet at The Village Station. I talked it up with a few new people and many that I knew from last year. I especially enjoyed talking to P.M. Terrell, Pamela J. Kimmell, and Bonnie Watson. All these ladies are wonderful people and authors. Not to mention Trish (P.M.) was our hostess and event coordinator (how she does it all, I'll never know!).

The next morning we were up early and went straight to Robeson Community College where Book 'Em is held. This year I shared a table at the event with Karen McCullough. We hadn't met last year, but after almost 7 hours together that day we certainly got to know each other. :) I had fun talking to her about our books, publishing, candies, and giveaway goodies.

Anyone who has seen me at an event like this knows that I'm a major candy pusher. This year was no different. Last year it was cinnamon disks; this year it was Dove milk chocolates. Talk about a great way to get people to your table! I begged, pleaded, guilted, and pretty much threw chocolate at everyone who walked by. And Karen has peppermint, so we were commenting on how well chocolate and peppermint goes together. LOL! It was a fun time. I ended up giving away almost three bags of chocolates, and still had one bag that I HAD to bring back home. Not that I'm complaining about my chocolate stash, or anything. ;)

The best part of the day happened about an hour before the event was over........

I SOLD OUT!!

Well, technically, I sold out of all my copies of Time for Death (Liz Baker, book 1). But hey, that's still a thrilling moment for me. I got listed in the Book 'Em newsletter as one of the four authors who sold out this year. And next year... I'll be seated on the Bestsellers Hall!  Woohoo!!

Here are a few more pictures from Book 'Em NC 2013. I look forward to this even in 2014!

Heading to Lumberton, NC

As many of you already know, I'll be an attending author at the Book 'Em NC Writers Conference & Book Fair on Saturday in Lumberton, North Carolina. Since I live in Georgia, it'll take almost 7 hours to get there. Sooooo, I'm leaving in the morning and will arrive at my hotel around 3pm - 4pm tomorrow afternoon.

Friday evening there will be an author meet and greet. They'll feed us, give us drinks, and in turn all of us (and our guests) will chat it up and have a good ole time seeing old friends and making new ones. At least that's how it was last year. ;)  I had a great time in a room full of like-minded folk.

Then on Saturday morning we'll head to the college hosting the conference to set up our tables, chit-chat some more, and wait for the doors to open to the public at 9:30am. For the next 6 1/2 hours I'll meet lots of old, new, and potential readers, while doing my best to ply them with chocolates, bookmarks, business cards, and autographed copies of the Liz Baker series.

Since I know many of my readers can't or aren't able to attend, be on the look out next week for one of my goodie giveaways. I don't like people to feel left out.  :D  *Smooches*

If you're able to visit us in Lumberton be sure to stop by my table and say hello. I'll be on the 1st floor.

WHEN: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2013
9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
WHERE: ROBESON COMMUNITY COLLEGE
LUMBERTON, NORTH CAROLINA

Upcoming Event: Book 'Em NC 2013

Last year, I attended a conference-slash-book fair in Lumberton, North Carolina. I had a great time meeting other authors and trying my best to entice new readers. Not to mention, meeting a couple of online friends face-to-face for the first time. It was so much fun that I immediately agreed to come back in 2013.

And now it's 2013! Wow! Where did 2012 go? No biggie, though. Let's just move on and start enjoying 2013. :)

Back to Book 'Em NC 2013...

I will be in attendance at Book 'Em NC on February 23, 2013. The night before is the author meet-n-greet with the actual conference & book fair the next morning. It's an all-day event (9:30am - 4pm) that's open to the public free of charge. There will be author talks, books for sale, authors on hand to autograph your books (even when our hands cramp from signing so many)... I think they're even having food stations this year.

Oh, and lest I forget, there's a big children's section upstairs. Last year, they had face painting and people dressed up as storybook characters. All the kids in attendance looked quite happy. Then again, that could have been all the candy I had on my table when they came by. LOL. For a moment I actually wished we'd brought our own kids to enjoy it... and then I came to my senses. ;)

This is such a big event and it benefits the local area there in Lumberton that I don't know anyone who would pass up the chance to help out, or even stop by to check it all out.  Here's the description of the Book 'Em purpose from the website:

"The purpose of The Book 'Em Foundation and this event is to raise public awareness of the link between high crime rates and high illiteracy rates. Proceeds from the Book 'Em North Carolina book fairs go directly to increasing literacy in Robeson County, North Carolina and to reducing crime in the area."

Last year, there were over 2,000 people in attendance, with 75 authors, and they raised over $9,000 in only 6 hours for the community.

If you're anywhere near Lumberton on Feb. 23rd please stop by, even just for a moment, to check it out. You might even find yourself leaving with dozens of new books. I know I saw many people walking around with arm loads that day... several even left with some of mine. :D

For more details and directions, visit http://www.bookemnc.org .  And hey, if you stop by be sure to find my table and say hello. I love conversation with fellow book lovers.

Upcoming Event: Undead Con & Wolf Gift Ball

A week from today I'll be on my way to New Orleans for the Undead Con and the Anne Rice Wolf Gift Ball. If you're planning to attend, it's time to get those tickets ordered. ASAP! The ARVLFC will stop taking ticket orders on October 21st, so you better jump on it if you're planning to hang with me and other authors. Order today!

I'm super excited for my first trip to New Orleans. I've always wanted to visit, but never found the time to go. Now that it's "work" I'm definitely finding the time to go.  LOL! If only everyone could enjoy their work as much as I do.  ;)

I'll also get to meet up with my wonder friend, fan, and fellow author Robin Renee Ray... for the first time, face to face!!  I'm sure there will be far too many hugs, giggles, and loud, extreme, howling laughter. Least of all, the constant "shop talk" that always happens when two authors get together. My poor husband will be so bored (you should have seen him when I was at Book 'Em NC).  LOL!

I will be in attendance at all the events (Meet-n-Greet, Undead Con, Wolf Gift Ball) with the exception of the happenings on Sunday, October 28th. With a 9 hour drive between NOLA and home, I'll be heading out by noon in order to get home in time to pick up my kiddies and get them into their own beds before starting a new week. Thank goodness for my mommy and her willingness to take my little hellions for four days so I can have a good time.

I love you, Mom!  :D

My little sister and her husband will be going with me, so if you see them tagging along be sure to say hi. They won't know what to think about all this conference stuff, and I'm looking forward to introducing them to my author buddies.

I hope to see you in New Orleans!
