Updates & What I'm Working On

Happy Fourth of July, lovely readers! I hope everyone is having an enjoyable day with family and friends. I ended up with four days off the day job for this weekend, and intend to make the most of them around the property. The hubs had to work today, but he'll be off the next three days, so that'll be nice. We have a lot to do over these few days, and some of it (for me) is business related.

As most of you know, the newest book in the Liz Baker series came out at the end of May. So far, the feedback has been great. I'm so glad people are enjoying Liz's story! It makes me happy when someone tells me how much they liked the stories I write. It validates all the time I put into these projects: all the stress, frustration, late nights, long days, multiple sets of eyes, and even the time my wonderful cover designer puts into it. I love my books and I'm thrilled others love them, too. :)

The last two months, I've been working on something new. I'm still working on the 8th book in Liz's series (scheduled for release in 2020), but I have also created a new business venture. I am now a certified life coach and have started accepting clients out of the herbal supplement shop (my day job). So if you follow me on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, you may, from time to time, see shared posts from Tailgate Life Coaching. That's me, so don't be concerned. Feel free to follow that page, if it's something you're interested in. I'm still building it up and creating content to share, but it's getting there.

Best wishes & happy holiday weekend, everyone!

My mind is blown. Will I recover?

It has been a crazy, stressful, and cold last few weeks (months). Some days I've felt like my mind is blown and I'll never think up another good idea... or hell, remember what day it is.

Christmas was good. The kids had fun and they enjoyed their gifts. My "new" grandmother even came over for Christmas dinner, and brought me an interesting gift (I shared about it on Facebook). And then a few days later my oldest daughter turned 17 (I cried).

The kids were home from school for two weeks due to the holidays, and then right when they were supposed to start back the frigid weather moved in. School was canceled for two days and then they had a delay on the third. It was hectic, but I was glad to not have to go out in the cold.

It's not all on my kids though. They were actually more behaving during this school break than they have been in years. Tenants, income, bills, seasonal (I hate winter), and numerous other issues plague me at the moment.

Overall, when stress hits my creativity plummets. I haven't written anything since November. It's not like I don't have books to write, because I certainly do. The 6th Liz Baker book is begging for my attention, right alongside the 1st book of a new series I'm starting, but I just shrug them off and go wallow in another episode of whatever T.V. series I'm currently enjoying.

Soooo, today I'm writing this blog. Not only to update you guys on what's going on, but also to jumpstart the writing side of my brain and to remind my fingertips what it feels like to type more than a Facebook status.

I have two more birthdays to work through (my youngest turning 9 & my own on Friday), and then it's the countdown to Book 'Em NC on February 22nd. I always look forward to seeing all the authors and readers in Lumberton, NC. This will be my third year attending and I always have a great time.

I hope you all have had a great holiday season. Now let's push into 2014 and make it a great year!

Newsletters Need Love Too

Some of you may recall that in previous years I had a monthly newsletter. However, finding the time to get a monthly newsletter out each month without simply regurgitating stuff that was already on the website and/or all the social networks became more of a chore than I was able to keep up with. So, I informed the subscribers that the newsletter would cease. Some were quite upset and let me know that they'd miss it dearly.

That brings us to the present. A newsletter is a huge benefit to any author and their fan base, so I've started a new one. This newsletter will only be for big announcements, new book releases, appearances, contests and giveaways. Basically, the big stuff. It will go out 3 - 6 times a year, as need dictates to share new developments with everyone.

I decided to make this decision immediately when one of my regular readers, a lady who buys each and every book I release, didn't know about Dark Promises until it had been out for two months. Eek! That was the quencher!

If you're a regular follower, or even just someone interested in knowing where I might pop up next (Book 'Em NC in February!), then please stop by and join. With the newsletters only going out 3 -6 times a year you won't have to worry about a full inbox from lil ole me. :)

Come on, sign up today! You know you want to. :)
